Samsung Galaxy S23 software occupies 60 GB of phone memory – twice as much as Windows 11 installed on a computer
This 60 GB includes Android 13, One UI 5.1, and pre-installed apps
Unexpectedly, an unpleasant find was found in Samsung Galaxy S23 phones: as it turned out, an operating system with a proprietary One UI interface and installed apps takes up phone memory is about 60 GB. If a user buys a base Galaxy S23 with 128 GB of flash memory, then we can assume that half of this amount is already gone.
Not all systems reportedly take up that much space: the problem is more pronounced in the US and European countries. For comparison, below are two screenshots: the one on the left is made on the Galaxy S23 Ultra for India, the one on the right – on the Galaxy S23 Ultra for the Netherlands. As you can see, in the first case, the system occupies 38.39 GB, in the second – 58.04 GB.
Such a large amount of software is associated with a large number of pre-installed applications. Moreover, in some cases, a Samsung branded application or service duplicates a similar Google application or service, but both are system ones and cannot be deleted.
For comparison, the software in Pixel 7 phones takes about 15 GB, and about the same takes firmware MIUI 14 on Android 13 in Xiaomi 13.
