Samsung disappointed: the Galaxy S25 smartphone will not be the most powerful phone of 2025

According to the results of the Geekbench test, the Galaxy with the 8 Elite Snapdragon chipset lags behind the basic iPhone 16 in performance.

A recent post on the X social network showed the test result of the chip that is equipped with the new Galaxy S25 flagship smartphone, and the results are lower than expected. Tomsguide.com writes about it.

The post presents a screenshot of the results for a device with the model number SM-S931N, probably the Korean version of the S25. According to NoteBookCheck, the phone comes with a Galaxy 8 Elite Snapdragon chipset clocked at 4.47GHz and 12GB of RAM.

While industry media has praised the power of the Snapdragon 8 Elite, these benchmarks suggest that the Galaxy S25 leaves a lot to be desired. According to Geekbench results, the device has a single-core score of 2,481 and a multi-core score of 8,658. Compared to the base iPhone 16, which has a single-core score of 3,301 and a multi-core score of 6,922, this doesn't look good for Samsung, the report said.

Recently, tomsguide.com experts independently tested the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip on a reference device. The test showed a single-core score of 3212 and a multi-core score of 10318. However, it should be noted that the test device they were given had 24 GB of RAM. This means that while the S25's 12 GB of RAM is an upgrade over the Galaxy S24's 8 GB of RAM, they may still be limiting the phone's ability to utilize the chip.

However, the real question will be the power of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which is rumored to have 16 GB of RAM.

“Hopefully, the more RAM will help the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip perform better. If it doesn't, users will be left wondering why Samsung is raising the price while using the same M13 display panels as the S24 series,” — the authors write.

For now, we just have to wait until experts have the opportunity to test the phones themselves to see how much the S25 slows down. If the estimates are accurate, the Galaxy S25 will have to make a lot of effort to get on the list of the best phones of 2025.
