According to the specialist, there is no more hope for the emergence of herd immunity with the help of re-illnesses. Scientists previously pinned great hopes on the body's response, but now it has become clear that it will not work to get the desired result. After recovery, the protective function against a new type of infection persists for six months. Within 3-4 months, antibodies decrease almost to complete disappearance in people who have been ill, and by 5-6 months, cellular immunity stops responding to coronavirus infection. Thus, it turns out that protection after COVID-19 lasts six months. One of the patients, who had a remarkable immunogram, became infected 6 months after the first infection. It follows from this that people who recovered from the coronavirus in April are again at risk.

Chepurnov noted that Russians will have to live under coronavirus restrictions for 1-2 years. It will be possible to completely abandon the previously introduced measures only after the vaccination of the population demonstrates a positive result.
