Russian troops are shelling and storming villages southeast of the city of Severodonetsk, according to the General Staff of the Ukrainian army.

It is alleged that the assault on the village of Sirotino was repulsed, and in the village of Metelkino, the Russian military achieved “partial success, they are trying to gain a foothold.”

The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, announced on Saturday that the village of Metelkino had been taken under control and heavy losses of Ukrainian troops. Earlier, he announced the capture of the city of Severodonetsk itself, but fighting continues there.

Severodonetsk and neighboring Lisichansk are the last large settlements of the Luhansk region under the control of Ukraine. Severodonetsk remains the most intense place of hostilities. Street fighting has been going on for weeks. Most of the residential development is now under the control of the Russian military, the Ukrainian military is holding positions around the Azot plant.

Russia is moving large reserves near Severodonetsk from other directions to try to finally completely capture the city, said the head of the Lugansk regional administration, Sergei Gaidai. and Russian media correspondents report numerous shellings of Donetsk. According to the separatists, the city was, among other things, fired about 20 shells from artillery supplied to Ukraine by NATO countries. There is no independent confirmation of this, the Ukrainian side did not comment on the shelling. According to the separatists, five civilians were killed in Donetsk and some were wounded.

According to the Ukrainian authorities, the Russian military shelled a gas processing plant in the Kharkiv region on Saturday, causing a large-scale fire. No casualties have been reported.

The authorities of the Dnipropetrovsk region also reported an attack on an oil depot in the city of Novomoskovsk. There are casualties.
