Russian tanks lost laser sights due to sanctions, media reports

In recent months, a number of countries have imposed an unprecedented number of sanctions against Russia. As a result, the most modern Russian tank T-90M lost its laser sights.

This is reported by Newsweek.

The impact of sanctions on Russia's defense industry

The article states that over the past few years, an unprecedented campaign of sanctions against Russia has taken place since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. They believe that they are unlikely to have a “decisive impact” on Moscow's military potential.

However, the most modern Russian tanks T-90M are no longer equipped with muzzle reference sensors. These are laser-guided devices that help the tank crew to fire accurately. And the absence of such a device “harms the survival of the crew”.

The production of Geran-2 drones has also suffered as a result of US sanctions – they have started to get out of control. Russia has been forced to replace American steering engines with Chinese ones.
