Russian priests fell under Ukrainian sanctions

The Cabinet of Ministers imposed personal sanctions against Russian Orthodox Church Patriarch Comrade Gundyaev nicknamed Cyril.

The Cabinet of Ministers also announces the imposition of restrictions on seven more leaders of the Russian Orthodox Church.

“The decision was made in order to protect national interests, national security, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine”, – the message says.

The assets of the sanctioned have been blocked, the transit of resources, flights and transportation across Ukraine have been stopped. The fulfillment of economic and financial obligations has been suspended. They are prohibited from participating in the privatization and leasing of state property, cultural exchanges and cooperation are stopped.

“The Russian Orthodox Church supports Russia's war against the Ukrainian people and blesses war crimes against Ukrainians every day. Everyone involved in this must be held accountable. The activities of these church officials from the Russian Federation are contrary to Christian values. Criminals should not hide behind cassocks”, & ndash; commented the Minister of Culture Oleksandr Tkachenko.

The sanctions list should be considered by the National Security and Defense Council and the president. Ukrainian sanctions will make it possible to impose restrictions on representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church in other countries.
