The aggressor country Russia has extended the period of deployment of its military facilities in Belarus for 25 years. This is reported by the monitoring group “Belarusian Gayun”.

On Wednesday, September 14 , the State Duma of the Russian Federation ratified the relevant protocols concerning two military facilities – "Baranovichi" and "Vileyka".

These military facilities, the protocols on extending the terms of use of which were ratified in Belarus back in March 2022, are being used by Russia “free of charge”. The monitoring group notes that this extension of the term of deployment is nothing more than a “technical measure”, since both objects were rented under a contract from January 6, 1995, which simply ended on May 30, 2021.

What is known about "Baranovichi" and "Vileyka"

  • Radio engineering center “Baranovichi”, this is 70M6 “Volga” – fixed radar station, an element of the Russian missile attack warning system (SPRN). Used to detect the launch and tracking of ballistic missiles and space objects.
  • 43rd communication center of the Russian Navy "Vileyka", the same radio station "Antey" – a communication center that provides direct and feedback communication of the Main Staff of the Russian Navy with nuclear submarines on combat duty in the areas of the Atlantic, Indian and partially Pacific Oceans. Also conducts electronic intelligence and electronic warfare. This is one of several similar radio stations
