By October 5, Russian fishermen had caught 3.949 million tons of fish, which is 0.2% less than on the same date last year, the Federal Agency for Fishery reports.
In the Far Eastern fishery basin, 2.881 million tons of fish were caught, which is 1.68% (47.56 thousand tons) more than a year earlier.
The catch of Pacific salmon compared to 2018 (salmon catches are compared between even and between odd years) decreased by 56.7%, to 287 thousand tons. Compared to 2019, the catch decreased by 39.2%.
In the Northern Basin, 397.9 thousand tons were caught (4.9% less).
In the Western Basin, the catch increased by 1.35% to 62.4 thousand tonnes.
Fishermen of the Azov-Black Sea basin reduced the fish catch by 5.9%, to 49.3 thousand tons, the Volga-Caspian – increased by 5%, to 46.2 thousand tons.
In the zones of foreign states, Russian fishermen caught 249.7 thousand tons of fish, which is 12 thousand tons less than a year earlier, in conventional areas and the open part of the World Ocean – 232.1 thousand tons (by 26.6 thousand tons less).
