A Russian court on Wednesday, October 9, found Trevor Reed, a former U.S. Marine released by Russian authorities in a prisoner swap in 2022, guilty in absentia of serving in Ukraine as a mercenary and sentenced him to 14.5 years in prison, Reuters reports.
Russia's Investigative Committee said Reed joined the Ukrainian army in July 2023 and “took direct part in hostilities on the side of Ukrainian security forces” against Russian troops in Ukraine.
The committee said it had placed Reed on an international wanted list.
