Russia uses new technologies to provoke Starlink disruptions at the front, - Fedorov

Russia used advanced technologies to create obstacles to Starlink satellite internet, which led to new disruptions on the northern front line.

RBK-Ukraine reports this with reference to The New York Times.

In May, when Russian troops took up positions near Kharkiv, they deployed more powerful electronic weapons and more sophisticated means to disrupt the Starlink system.

Minister of digital technologies of Ukraine, Mykhailo Fedorov, said that the recent Russian attacks on Starlink appear to have used newer and more advanced technologies. In the past, this service has been excellent against battlefield interference, where electronic warfare, radio jamming, and other communications disruptions have been widely used.

“The Russians are currently testing various mechanisms to disrupt Starlink communications because it so important for us,” he said, without revealing details about what he called their “powerful” electronic weapons systems.

Fedorov added that Ukraine is in constant communication with SpaceX to resolve the issues.

Starlink

Starlink is a satellite system that provides high-speed broadband Internet access. It is vital for Ukraine, especially in regions close to the front line, where ground infrastructure may be damaged or missing.

Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, Poland has been actively helping Ukraine. As early as August 2022, Warsaw transferred 5,000 Starlink satellite internet stations.
