“Russia is walking great”: Japan admired the atomic icebreaker “Arktika”

Users of the World Wide Web from Japan are delighted with the icebreaker Arktika. They noted that “Russia walks well.” We are talking about the activation of the Northern Sea Route with the aim of transport links between Europe and Asia.

In the publication of the television and radio company NHK, posted on its website, it is noted that in the face of the warming of the Earth's climate and strong melting of polar ice, the Russian Federation decided to strengthen the development of the direction for the search for minerals in the Arctic, as well as the use of the Northern Sea Route. The authors of the article write that such newest icebreakers can ensure the dominance of the Russian Federation in the development of the Arctic. The new specialized vessel belongs to the project 22220 and was built at the shipyard of the Baltic Shipyard in St. Petersburg.

The domestic icebreaker has modern technical characteristics, while the length of the ship's hull is 173.3 m, width – 34 m, and the displacement reaches 335 tons. The icebreaker is capable of supporting ship caravans in the Arctic region, breaking through the Arctic ice up to 3 m thick.
