The UK Department of Defense says Russia is using its latest fighter jets to launch missiles at Ukraine thousands of miles from the border.   Twitter .

Moscow is afraid to send them closer to the front line.

According to the report, since at least June 2022, the Russian Air Force has used the Su-57 FELON to carry out missions against Ukraine. These missions were limited to flights over the territory of Russia and the launch of long-range air-to-ground missiles; or "air-to-air" on the territory of Ukraine.

According to British intelligence, FELON – it is Russia's most advanced fifth-generation supersonic combat aircraft, utilizing stealth technology and advanced avionics. The latest available images show five FELON aircraft parked at the Aktyubinsk Air Base, where 929 Flight Center is located. Because this is the only known FELON base , these aircraft were likely involved in operations against Ukraine.

Russia is likely to prioritize avoiding reputational damage, reduced export prospects, and compromise of classified technology that could result from the loss FELON through Ukraine. This is a symptom that Russia is still not at risk using its air force in the war.
