Romania received $920 million from the United States for the production of ammunition and Abrams tanks

The United States and Romania signed an agreement on direct foreign military financing for $920 million. Romania will use these funds to modernize its armed forces forces and increase the production of ammunition, Eurvactiv reports.

From this sum, $220 million will be used to create a center for the production of large-caliber ammunition (120-155 mm). According to the Prime Minister of Romania, Marcel Colaku, this center will make Romania the only producer of ammunition for Abrams tanks in Europe. like Abrams battle tanks”.

“In the next period, we will focus on developing new production facilities in Romania, creating jobs for our citizens and restoring importance in the regional production of military equipment”, – cites the edition of the Romanian Prime Minister.

Cholaku added that this is the first significant step in military-industrial cooperation with the USA, the country plans to offer additional strategic projects worth $2 billion.
