Romania strengthens its Air Force with additional F-16

Romania is increasing the capabilities of its Air Force. In particular, three additional F-16s have arrived from Norway.

F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters have arrived at the Campia-Turzii airbase for service with the 48th fighter squadron.

Romania received from Norway another three F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters, which was an important step in strengthening air defense capabilities. The acquisition, which is part of an overall purchase of 32 F-16s, is intended to secure Romania's airspace and strengthen NATO's eastern defenses amid rising regional tensions.

Despite the fact that Norwegian fighters are more than 35 years old, the planes are in good condition. The fighters have undergone modernization and were able to launch modern Laser-JDAM bombs and AMRAAM-120D missiles.

In ten years, these aircraft should be replaced by the American F-35.
