Romania contributes to providing Ukrainian personnel with the necessary knowledge to operate the F-16

The Romanian government on Wednesday, October 16, approved the legal procedures and conditions for training Ukrainian personnel who operate F-16 aircraft.

This was announced by Romanian government spokesman Mihai Constantin, writes "European Pravda" with reference to Digi24.

As Konstantin specified, the resolution was adopted in fulfillment of the “commitment made by Romania at the NATO summit in Vilnius.”

“The government has approved the legal procedures and conditions for the training of Ukrainian personnel who will operate F-16 aircraft, which will take place at the 86th Air Base “Fetesti”,” he specified.

According to the speaker, in this way Romania is making its contribution to providing Ukrainian personnel with the necessary knowledge to operate, maintain and repair F-16 fighters.

“In the context of the war continuing near Romania's borders, providing this support is an investment in national and allied security, which can be a signal of the cohesion of the European Union, NATO and partner countries,” added Konstantin.

In September, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov first announced the start of training Ukrainian pilots on F-16s in Romania after a conversation with his Romanian counterpart Angel Tilvar.

The Romanian side later confirmed the start of training the first group of Ukrainians on fighters, and practical training could begin before the end of the year.
