Robot dogs are being used to protect Trump: what is known about them (video)

Similar robotic devices are used in Ukraine to conduct intelligence during the war.

To protect the private villa “Mar-a-Lago” in Palm Beach (Florida), which is the main residence of US President-elect Donald Trump, the Secret Service uses robotic guard dogs Spot.

This is reported by the BBC.

The Secret Service declined to specify when exactly the robot dogs began to be used to protect Trump and what this was connected with, noting only that protecting the newly elected president is a top priority.

One of the experts of the publication, former Secret Service agent Ron Williams, believes that the two attempts to assassinate Trump have added urgency to the agency's efforts to “update technology that can improve the ability to detect threats.”

These robotic devices can more quickly and completely monitor large open areas such as the residence of the president-elect.

As is known, the first attempt on Trump occurred at a July rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, and the second – right near the golf course of the Mar-a-Lago villa in September.

Williams added that robotic dogs are increasingly becoming a tool used by military and law enforcement agencies around the world. In particular, in Pennsylvania, robot dogs are used to check for potential explosive devices, and in Ukraine they are used to conduct reconnaissance during the war.

What can robot dogs do

These devices, developed by Boston Dynamics, are equipped with surveillance technology and a set of advanced sensors, including a set of cameras that create a 3D map of the environment, and may also have additional functions — such as a thermal sensor.

Spot security robots are known for their agility. They can walk up and down stairs, move around tight spaces and even open doors.

They can be controlled remotely with a joystick, but they also patrol the area automatically if they have a pre-programmed route.&nbsp ;

Unlike humans and real dogs, robotic dogs are not distracted by the images, sounds or smells they encounter.

The robot dog that was seen in “Mar-a-Lago” was armed, but some manufacturers, in particular Chinese ones, are experimenting with such models.
