The automotive industry is unlikely to ever see a car that looks like the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren again, and some collectors have finally realized how cool it really is!
The Bring a Trailer auction is bidding for a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren supercar with a fabric convertible top. Despite the fact that the condition of the roadster cannot be called ideal, they are already offering 300 thousand dollars for it. The cost is affected both by the rarity of the model itself (in total, only 2157 copies of the SLR McLaren of all modifications were assembled), and the low mileage of this particular instance. He has traveled less than 6,000 kilometers since 2008.
The new car cost $513,100. The supercar is decorated in the traditional silver color with black leather and carbon trim in the cabin. The folding top is also black. It takes the servos about 10 seconds to remove it. At the time the supercar entered the market, the manufacturer claimed that the driver and passenger would be able to communicate freely with the roof down at a speed of about 200 km/h.
The roadster was equipped with the same engine as the coupe – a 5.4-liter V8 that developed 626 hp. and 780 Nm of torque. It works with a five-speed “automatic”, but due to the increased mass due to the roof mechanism, the roadster slightly loses to the coupe in dynamics: 332 km/h of maximum speed against 334.
Despite the modest mileage, there are chips on the front of the body and the rear wheels of this roadster. There is also a spot on the leather of the driver's seat. In addition, the car has already undergone repairs to the brake system and door mechanisms.
