It's not like it was planned. It just happened. And then when you talk about it, you have to go back and try to figure out why, and sometimes there's no explanation for these things.

Celebrimbor's Last Words Touched Sauron

The actor addressed the issue of the relationship between Sauron and Celebrimbor. Charlie Vickers claims that his character respected the Lord of Eregion and that if he shed his little tear, it is because of Celebrimbor's last words to Sauron. Indeed, he predicts that the rings will be Sauron's downfall by telling him: One alone will prove your total ruin:

Thinking about why he might have felt that way, there are a lot of different things. I think we see him kill people in this series, and he often kills them in a pretty matter-of-fact way, let's say. It's different with Celebrimbor because he's been a partner in crime and someone that Sauron really respects and could have used.

While season 3 of the series has yet to be confirmed by Amazon, in that same interview, Vickers has already teased some ideas for his character. He admits to wanting to see the war of the elves and Sauron, the fall of Númenor, the war of the last alliance or even the creation of the ring.

Season 2 of the series The Rings of Power is available on Prime Video.
