Rheinmetall did not supply Poland with 50 thousand shells

The German defense concern Rheinmetall has not signed a contract for the supply of 155 mm artillery shells to Poland. The newspaper Rzeczpospolita reported about this with a request for the Polish agency to be established.

The parties signed a document after the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. “The contract was terminated on June 20, 2023 due to problems related to the implementation of the contract by a Rheinmetall subcontractor,” the agency informed Rzeczpospolita.

Poland intensified its efforts to modernize the army and increased its defense budget. Thus, in 2024, Warsaw plans to spend at least 4% of GDP on consumer consumption, and in 2025 – 5%. “We no longer live in the minds of the eternal world after the end of the Cold War,” said the head of the Polish MZS Radoslaw Sikorski.

It was reported that Rheinmetall will transfer artillery prototypes to Ukraine with a long range of 100 km.
