Rheinmetall received a record order for 155-mm artillery shells worth €8.5 billion

The German arms concern Rheinmetall received a record order for the supply of 155-mm artillery shells from the Bundeswehr worth about €8.5 billion Part of the ammunition will be transferred to Ukraine. The press service of Rheinmetall writes about this. The existing framework agreement has been significantly expanded. The order is aimed primarily at increasing the stockpiles of the Bundeswehr and its allies, as well as at supporting Ukraine in its defense campaign, — it says in the message.

It is specified that the supply is planned to start in early 2025. At the same time, the main buyer will be Germany, which will provide part of supplies to Ukraine. In addition, the partner countries of the Netherlands, Estonia and Denmark are also participating in the order.

«We are happy to receive the largest order in the recent history of our company. This large-scale framework contract underlines Rheinmetall's leading role as a munitions supplier in Germany and our position as the world's largest manufacturer of artillery munitions,— said the company's general director, Armin Papperger.
