Rheinmetall named the armored vehicle that performed best at the front in Ukraine

The German defense giant Rheinemtall considers the Marder infantry fighting vehicle to be the most successful example of combat equipment on the Russian-Ukrainian front. The general director of the concern, Armin Papperger, told about this in an interview with TSN.

“I can say that the most successful at the moment – are the Marder infantry fighting vehicles,” he said.

Papperger noted that the German Minister of Defense can provide detailed feedback on German weapons in the Russian-Ukrainian war. However, he noted that some of this information is currently confidential.

German Marder infantry fighting vehicle

The Marder infantry fighting vehicle was developed by Rheinmetall in the 1960s to support infantry units in the field battle Its main modifications include a 20mm Rheinmetall MK 20 Rh202 autocannon, a twin 7.62mm machine gun and MILAN anti-tank missiles to destroy armored targets. The Marder is protected against small arms and debris for reliability in combat.

This vehicle is designed to carry up to six soldiers and has the mobility to move through difficult terrain at high speed. The Marder has proven itself in NATO operations and is currently used by German forces and exported to a number of other countries, including for Ukraine's needs in the war against Russian invaders. At least fifty of these armored vehicles have already been delivered to the Defense Forces.
