Reuters: Amazon tests smart glasses for drivers to speed up deliveries

Amazon continues to improve its delivery methods and is developing a new tool – “smart” glasses for drivers. According to Reuters, the glasses are intended to help reduce the time for each delivery by giving employees access to useful information right in front of their eyes. The company expects that this approach will allow drivers to navigate the route much faster and reduce the number of errors during delivery.

This innovation is part of Amazon's global strategy aimed at optimizing logistics. The smart glasses are expected to provide virtual directions to addresses and delivery processes, as well as instantly highlight the next stop. Thus, according to Amazon, each delivery will take less time, which is especially important during peak seasons, when the volume of orders increases significantly.

The company is currently testing the glasses on a limited scale, collecting feedback and improving the technology before possible mass integration. If the testing shows positive results, Amazon is likely to expand the use of the glasses to get all drivers. While Amazon representatives refrain from commenting on exact dates or the cost of the device, but preliminary data suggests that the solution will appear in the next few years.

According to Reuters, this technological breakthrough Amazon could once again put the company at the top of the list of innovative logistics companies. If the smart glasses really help speed up deliveries, customers' expectations for fast delivery will become even more realistic.
