Retail trade turnover in Russia in August 2020 decreased by 2.7% compared to August 2019, to 2 trillion 939.1 billion rubles, according to the Federal Service of State Statistics of the Russian Federation (Rosstat). The result was slightly worse than the consensus forecast, which assumed a 2.5% decline in trade turnover in annual terms. In July, the retail trade turnover in Russia decreased by 1.9% (revised data) compared to July 2019.
In comparison with July, retail trade in August this year increased by 2.7%.
In January-August 2020, retail sales decreased by 5.1% – to 21 trillion 028.2 billion rubles.
In August 2020, retail trade turnover by 95.1% was formed by trading organizations and individual entrepreneurs operating outside the market, the share of retail markets and fairs was 4.9% (in August 2019 – 94.6% and 5.4 %
