(Detroit) Robby Fabbri broke the deadlock with 2:42 left in the third period and the Detroit Red Wings beat the Carolina Hurricanes 4-2 on Saturday.
Fabbri redirected a pass from Filip Zadina from the back of the net.
Zadina also got an assist on Bobby Ryan’s goal, while Dylan Larkin completed a brace in an empty net.
Jonathan Bernier made 29 saves for the Wings, who are starting the season with four games at home.
Vincent Trocheck and Andrei Svechnikov were the scorers for the visitors, while Petr Mrazek blocked 17 shots.
Carolina set the pace in the first period, but the Red Wings blocked seven shots and the period ended 0-0.
