I was already forty years old when my son was born.

Real Life. "My Son's Fiancee Turned Her Wedding Into a Farce": My Son Sided With Her

It seemed that I might not live to see him start a family and have children. This year, Adam finally delighted me with the news of his wedding. His fiancée, Olga, is quite a stubborn girl, but I thought that no one would want to start their family life with a conflict.

Until the last moment I hoped that Adam and Olga would listen to my humble wishes. My husband and I are not young anymore, our grandchildren from our oldest daughter are already in school. I just wanted the newlyweds to have a normal, traditional wedding.

I didn't ask for much. We have many relatives, we all love Adam and we couldn't wait for his wedding. When we were told about the upcoming wedding, we were all very happy. But then it turned out that Olga was against the wedding! This news fell on us like a bolt from the blue!

How come there won't be a wedding? And the guests, and the gifts? It's like spitting in people's faces – everyone invited us to their weddings. I invited the young couple to ours and tried to explain that their desire is not the most important thing here. It's a kind of duty to the family. In addition, a wedding is an opportunity to introduce all the new relatives on the same day and introduce the bride.

Olga stood up: – Why do you think you can decide whether we have a wedding or not? I think it should be our decision.

I didn't tolerate such impudence and said that if there is no wedding, they can safely cut me and my father off from their lives. If we are denied such a small thing, what is the point of further communication? My son tried to calm down the conflict. He took Olga and promised that they would think about it.

A few days later he told me that he had managed to convince Olga and the wedding would take place. During all the weeks leading up to the wedding, Olga walked around with a dissatisfied face and with every look she showed that she was against it. I even managed to convince Olga to buy a wedding dress. Although it is strange to me – how could a young girl not want a white wedding dress?

However, for Olga to agree, I had to pay for it. However, I could not allow my son's fiancée to try to bypass this wedding tradition. On the day of the wedding, everything started perfectly. We went to the registry office, registered, and then we all went to a restaurant.

I did not immediately suspect that something was wrong. First, we were met by a very strange host. He spoke like a man who had just been released from a place not so far away. Every now and then he would throw in dirty jokes. Everyone was ashamed to be in his presence.

I couldn't hold it in for long and decided to approach the host to give him a little nudge and remind him where he was. However, instead of an apology, I received a dose of curses. The competitions were also terrible! The rude host literally forced everyone to drink. And then one of Olga's friends caused a scandal! She took the microphone from the host and started shouting that the groom was sleeping with her, laughing loudly and running around the room.

I have never been so embarrassed in my life. I couldn't look my relatives in the eye. I apologized to everyone a hundred times. Relatives from both sides were leaving the restaurant, which looked more like a battlefield, awkwardly. Olga went to the toilet to clean up the cake. Her white dress was ruined, covered in cake. I followed the bride, trying to comfort her. And then I heard Olga calling someone:

-Oh, my friend, you played it perfectly! You saw how my mother-in-law's face twisted? What a show!

I couldn't believe my ears! Olga had set this up on purpose. She had turned her own wedding into some cheap show and embarrassed us in front of her entire family.

I told my son that if he didn't divorce his Olga after this, he could forget he had parents at all. I guess he didn't believe me, because his only reaction was: “Mom, don't exaggerate,” but I was serious.
