My wife finally caught up with me. I put up with her all this time because I felt sorry for my family, because we have two children.
But only now did I realize that she had been skillfully manipulating me my whole life. When I met Sylwia, I was 22. I was an athlete, I didn't drink or smoke, I was different from my peers.
I also inherited an apartment from my grandfather. I wasn't even thinking about marriage – I was studying at the university and making plans for the future. But one day I met Sylwia in a group of friends. She was four years older than me and knew exactly what she wanted from life.
Before I knew it, we started dating. My friends were surprised: – “Why do you need her? She has a terrible temper, she'll drive you crazy.” I didn't listen to anyone, I guess I was in love, and Sylwia always took control of everything, ruled me, and I didn't mind.
Soon she told me she was pregnant and we got married. We moved into my apartment. I tried to please my wife: I earned a good living, I looked after the child, I helped with the housework, but I never heard her express gratitude. On the contrary, she only reproached me.
At some point I was ready to leave. Although I loved my son, I couldn't stand it anymore. And then Sylwia got pregnant again. That's how our family life went. I worked hard, and she, needing nothing, humiliated me all the time. A few years ago I retired. I didn't quit my job, but something changed in my mind. It happened after my friend suddenly died of a heart attack. That's when I realized that life can end at any moment. And somehow it happened that I met Maria during that period.
She's a doctor, a perfect housewife, calm and caring – the exact opposite of my wife. She's 52, divorced, lives with her daughter and son-in-law. We started dating in secret. A few months ago I decided to change my life and told Sylwia:
-I want to get a divorce. The children are already adults.
-You think I'm happy with you. ? I've been dragging you along all my life, and without me you're worthless.
-I'm with another woman.
-Aren't you ashamed of chasing skirts at the age of 63? No one will look at you without money…
-We'll see…
-Or maybe you've decided to throw me out of the apartment? Don't you dare!
Then I packed the most necessary things and left. I left everything to my ex: my apartment and everything I earned through honest work. I was terrified because I had nothing left. I went to Maria and told her honestly:
-I have nothing. I understand if you don't want me like this.
-You know, I have an idea. Let's live in the countryside. Of course, it's far, but there's a bus there, so we can get to work. And then everything will work out.
I'm glad I decided to take this step. I never thought that life could turn out like this. But one thing worries me – my children are offended, they don't want to see me. I hope that in time they will understand and forgive me.
