MOSCOW (Reuters) – The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and the Egyptian pharmaceutical company Pharco have agreed to supply 25 million doses of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V to Egypt, RDIF said Wednesday.
The vaccine will be supplied through Pharco to Biogeneric Pharma. Thanks to the agreement between RDIF and Pharco, 25% of the Egyptian population will have access to the Sputnik V vaccine, and in the future it is planned to distribute it in neighboring countries, the report said.
“In addition to supplying the vaccine, we are considering many other opportunities for cooperation with RDIF, including the localization of production in Egypt at Biogeneric Pharma facilities for several months,” – said in a statement referring to the head of Pharco Sherin Abbas Helmi.
RDIF has already agreed to supply vaccines to Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Mexico, Brazil, India and Nepal.
