The author of the radio dictation text this year was the Ukrainian writer Oksana Zabuzhko. Her text “The Magic of the Voice” was read by the writer, musician, eco-activist and military Pavlo Vyshebaba. He was mobilized into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine immediately after the full-scale Russian invasion.

Everyone who had such an opportunity at that moment wrote the radio dictation. With a sheet of paper and a pen in their hands defenders simply wrote the text at the firing positions, near the guns and combat vehicles, at the control points, even in the hospital.

All-Ukrainian Radio Dictator of National Unity is a traditional annual national action dedicated to the Ukrainian language, an action of unity that takes place on the Day of Ukrainian writing and language. This year, the dictation will take place on the eve of the holiday.

The radio dictation was held for the first time in 2000. Until 2022 inclusive, radio dictation took place on November 9 (in 2019 – November 8). During its 23-year history, it became the largest Ukrainian-language flash mob, uniting Ukrainians and connoisseurs of the Ukrainian language all over the world.
