A fire in the Bergisches Land cost the lives of five people. The emergency services could not see any strong traces of fire on the house, but the search for the cause is ongoing.
Tragic accident in Radevormwald near Wuppertal: five people were killed in a fire in the town in the Bergisches Land. A spokesman for the Cologne police announced on Friday.
The police and public prosecutor’s office have started investigations.
The police did not initially provide any further details. No information was initially disclosed about the victims or the cause of the fire. A spokesman for the Cologne Police Headquarters said that the press sovereignty lies with the public prosecutor.

The fire brigade had moved back in the evening after a two-hour fire-fighting operation, said a fire brigade spokesman for the dpa.
The scene of the fire had been handed over to the police. An emergency call was received at 5 p.m. that a house was on fire. During the extinguishing work, the emergency services came across the five bodies. At around 7.30 p.m., the fire brigade had withdrawn.
The re was “nothing left to do”.
Window panes on the house were shattered, said a photographer on site of the dpa. Strong traces of fire can not be seen on the house.
The white, elongated house with a ground floor and a partially developed attic is located on a main road on the outskirts of Radevormwald in the Herbeck district.
The scene of the accident was cordoned off over a large area.
