On Friday, August 12, President of Russia Vladimir Putin discussed with the permanent members of the Security Council of the Russian Federation "issues of ensuring security in the military direction". This was reported on the Kremlin website.

During the meeting, Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu spoke. The rest of the details of the meeting are unknown.

The last time Shoigu spoke at a meeting of the Security Council of the Russian Federation on May 13. According to Putin's speaker Dmitry Peskov, then the minister informed participants of the meeting on the course of the armed invasion of Ukraine.
