Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decrees on reshuffles in the Ministry of Defense, dismissing four deputy ministers at once (including the first deputy minister and secretary of state) and appointing three new deputies, Radio Liberty reports.

Among the deputy minister appointed by his decree is Anna Tsivileva, the wife of the former governor of the Kemerovo region, who recently became Minister of Energy, Sergei Tsivilev. According to journalistic investigations, she is a relative of Putin – great niece. The Tsivilevs were co-owners of the large coal mining company Kolmar. In 2023, she was appointed head of the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation, which provides social support to the families of war participants in Ukraine.

In addition to Tsivileva, Pavel Fradkov – apparently, the son of the former head of the Russian government and head of the SVR, Mikhail Fradkov. The first deputy defense minister was Leonid Gornin, a former deputy finance minister.

Previously, Putin relieved Nikolai Pankov, Ruslan Tsalikov, Tatyana Shevtsova and General Pavel Popov from the posts of deputy defense minister.

In May, when a new one was appointed Sergei Shoigu lost his position as Minister of Defense in the government. The new minister was appointed former Putin adviser and first deputy prime minister Andrei Belousov, an economist by profession. Both before and after the change of minister, a number of criminal cases were opened against high-ranking military and Defense Ministry officials, including Deputy Minister Timur Ivanov.
