Putin appointed Patrushev and Dyumin as his assistants

Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed former Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev and Tula Region Governor Alexei Dyumin as his assistants. For Dyumin, this means resignation from the post of head of the region.

Both officials are considered close associates of Putin, Patrushev was his deputy in the Presidential Administration in the late 1990s, and then in the FSB, Dyumin worked in Putin’s first presidential term his protection, Radio Liberty reports.

The decrees on the appointments were published on May 14. Putin reappointed all existing assistants, plenipotentiaries and heads of the Presidential Administration to their positions. All of them automatically resigned after the start of the new presidential term.

In particular, the head of the administration Anton Vaino, his first deputies Sergei Kiriyenko and Alexei Gromov, one of the deputy heads and Putin’s press secretary, remained in their places Dmitry Peskov.

Putin appointed State Duma deputy Elena Yampolskaya as his cultural adviser. Yampolskaya — former editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Culture”, she is known for her ultra-conservative and ultra-patriotic view of culture.
