The second round of the Premier League on September 19 will open the match between Everton and West Brom. Can “blackbirds” create problems for “toffee”? Read our forecast.
“Everton” perfectly started the championship, winning on the road, “Tottenham” (1: 0). This became one of the main sensations of the first round. It is now unknown how exactly the victory will affect the charges of Carlo Ancelotti . Perhaps the Merseysiders will play even stronger, as they will believe in themselves and in their eminent coach. On the other hand, Everton failed at the end of last season. The Toffees won only one of their final six matches.
Everton have done a good job in the transfer market this offseason. The names of the purchased footballers are loud enough. Carlo Ancelotti James Rodriguez, Nils Nkunku, Abdoulay Dukure and midfielder Allan from Napoli joined the ranks of the team. For the latter, Everton laid out 25 million euros, and for Dukure, 22.10 million. Toffee are definitely trying to turn into another top.
Everton is approaching this fight with three injured players. Mason Holgate, Jean-Philippe Gbamen and Jenk Tosun are in the club’s infirmary. The participation of Fabian Delph is questionable.
If Everton had a great start in the new championship, then West Brom , on the contrary, was an unpleasant surprise. Leicester practically did not notice the Blackbirds, defeating them at the Hawthorns (3-0). Moreover, Slaven Bilic’s charges made only one shot on target during the whole match! Surely West Brom should improve later. However, it is difficult to imagine that the “blackbirds” will be able to do this on the Goodison. Moreover, given the end of last season, West Brom are having a rather unpleasant streak. Bilic’s team have not won five official matches in a row.
On the transfer market, West Brom has spent almost 25 million euros. The relatively high-profile acquisitions were Sporting right winger Mateus Pereira (€ 9.10m) and West Ham left winger Grady Diangana (€ 13.5m).
Everton have won only two of their last seven official matches.
Both will score have played in seven of Everton’s last eight home league games.
Everton at Goodison in the Premier League have lost only one of their last 12 matches.
West Brom’s unbeaten streak has reached five meetings.
On the road, the Blackbirds won one of the last five official matches.
West Brom have not been able to beat Everton four times in a row. The last time these teams met in the 2017/18 season, they drew twice: (1: 1) and (0: 0).
01/20/18 Everton West Bromwich eleven
12/26/17 West Bromwich Everton 0: 0
03/11/17 Everton West Bromwich thirty
08/20/16 West Bromwich Everton 12
Judging by the first round, Everton and West Brom are in diametrically opposite shape. “Toffee” can beat the representative of the top six, and the WBA loses to Leicester, which, however, also belongs to the difficult clubs of the league. It is unlikely that anything will change in the second round. West Brom have little chance of opposing Carlo Ancelotti’s team.
