Popular TikTok blogger Habi Lame becomes UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador

One of the world's most popular TikTok bloggers, Habi Lame, has been appointed UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.

This is reported by Euronews.

In his first statement, the 24-year-old Lame said that this appointment would allow him to «see the whole world and its problems». The influencer noted that he is honored to be a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and «be part of an organization that puts children's rights in the spotlight every day».

«From my own experience as a child who was afraid of poverty, struggling to find his passion in school, losing his job during the COVID-19 pandemic, and finding his place and calling in the world, I know that all children can thrive when given a chance and opportunities», the blogger said.

Lamé's family moved from Senegal to Italy when he was a baby, but he only received Italian citizenship at the age of 20. He became famous for his TikTok videos of reactions to everyday life, in which he does not say a word. His popularity increased during the pandemic, when Lame lost his job at a factory and started making more videos. The blogger now has over 162 million followers.

Senegal is a major source of illegal migration to Europe. More than 60% of the country's population is under 25, 90% of whom work in informal jobs.
