The spokesperson for the Popular Action caucus, Elvis Vergara, announced this Thursday, August 18, that it has presented a bill that proposes the advancement of general elections.
During his speech In plenary session after the presentation by the head of the Ministerial Cabinet, Aníbal Torres, the legislator asked his colleagues to support the document, in order to get out of the political and social crisis that the country is experiencing.
“It is a bill 'We are all leaving for the advancement of general elections, for the political, social and economic stability of the country.' There are many colleagues who have said: 'if I go for the president to go, then I'm going'. I invite everyone to sign the project and let's get out of this crisis and give the country stability”, he expressed.
Vergara indicated that everyone “we have honestly failed” and that if the situation continues like this, the streets “They're going to get everyone out”, so an “relief valve” is essential for the democratic system to continue to function.
“I think that we have all failed honestly, it is my perception, and if we continue to fail, this is going to explode, we are not going to give for more. Indeed, the streets are going to take us all out. We have to have an escape valve, not for us, not for the president or the ministers, but for the democratic system that has made us sit here”, he stressed.
“We have to have an escape valve so that in the future it is not said that democracy has not worked and that is why we have another type of system. If we don't improve our work, it won't come from us and, unfortunately, being pessimistic, I think that's going to happen. That escape valve is not going to come from us, it is very probable that it is not. Then let's find another one”, he added.
