The Polish self-propelled artillery installation AHS Krab has been in service with the Defense Forces of Ukraine since 2022. The first tracked howitzers were transferred to Ukraine by Poland — 18 pieces.

For them, not only enemy artillery strikes are dangerous, but also the use of drones. In order to avoid impact, special nets, so-called “grills”, are welded onto them.

AHS Krab weighs about 50 tons. The barrel with a length of 52 calibers allows hitting targets at a distance of up to 30 km, while the maximum range of active-reactive ammunition is 40 km >. This howitzer is capable of firing up to six rounds per minute. In order to maintain such an artillery installation, you need five people. The Crab self-propelled gun has a caliber of 155 mm, standard for NATO countries.

The highway speed of such an artillery installation 67 km/h. In addition to 18 Polish howitzers, Ukraine also signed a contract for the purchase of about 60 of these self-propelled guns.
