Polish authorities have limited the amount of homework for schoolchildren

Many children in Poland are happy about the strict restrictions on the amount of homework introduced by the government.

However, not all teachers and parents share this joy.

According to the government decision, homework for students in grades 1-3 has been canceled. In grades 4-8, homework will be voluntary and will not affect the grade, reports  Associated Press.

The changes come amid widespread debate about the need to modernize Poland's education system.

Critics say the system places too much emphasis on rote learning and not enough – critical thinking and creativity.

Debates about the appropriate amount of homework are ongoing in many countries.

Some studies show that homework does not provide much benefit to elementary school students.

< p>But many experts believe that homework helps children develop study habits and learn the material better.
