Police expose two women who set cars on fire at the behest of internet curators

The perpetrators were detained after they burned one civilian crossover and were about to set another on fire. The accomplices face imprisonment for their actions.

During the curfew, for the violation of which the law still does not provide for liability, on one of the city streets, the perpetrators set fire to a Kia car belonging to a local civilian woman parked near her home. The vehicle was extinguished by firefighters and the incident was reported to the police.

With the analytical support of the employees of the Criminal Analysis Department of the Main Police Department in the Odessa region, employees of the Criminal Investigation Department of the regional police, together with operatives and investigators of the police department No. 1 of the Odessa district police department No. 1, and employees of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Odessa region, established that two Odessa girls, aged 17 and 18, were involved in the arson of the crossover.

A minor girl, while looking for «easy» earnings in one of the channels of the telephone messenger, was recruited for a monetary reward to commit arson of military and police cars. She was also allowed to burn any car, on which a white cross had to be pasted beforehand. Having agreed, the young woman involved her 18-year-old friend in cooperation.

The girls found a car that met the requirements of the so-called curator and, after waiting for nightfall, marked it with a cross, doused it with flammable liquid and set it on fire. The process was filmed on a phone to confirm the «work».

Later, in a similar way, they were going to burn another civilian car «Renault», parked near the owner's house.

The police detained the perpetrators before the crime was committed. They seized fuel and lubricants, a lighter, adhesive tape and other items prepared for setting fire to a car, mobile phones with correspondence with the customer and other items of evidentiary value in the case.

Investigators detained the girls in a procedural manner and, based on the evidence collected, informed them of suspicion of intentional damage to another's property and attempted intentional damage to another's property, committed by arson, in prior conspiracy by a group of persons. According to the sanction of Part 2 of Art. 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, they face up to 10 years in prison.

The court chose the suspects preventive measures in the form of 24-hour house arrest.

Investigative actions continue under the procedural guidance of the Primorsky District Prosecutor's Office of the city of Odessa.

Police officers urge parents to pay more attention to their children, control where and with whom they spend time, and explain to them the consequences of illegal actions.

We also appeal to young people: under no circumstances do you agree to criminal offers, remember that money is not worth a spoiled life spent in in’prison.
