Poland has transferred Leopard 2 tanks to Latvia to reinforce a NATO brigade

Poland has deployed Leopard 2 main battle tanks to Latvia to strengthen the multinational NATO brigade based in the Baltic country.

This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to NTV.

According to the Latvian army, the equipment was delivered to the Adazi military base by rail, replacing the Polish PT-91 tanks that were previously in service in the region.

About the exact The number of Leopard 2PL tanks arriving is not reported. The brigade commander, Canadian Colonel Cedric Aspireau, noted that their arrival significantly improves the unit's firepower.

The presence of the tanks demonstrates NATO's determination to defend Latvia, which borders Russia and Belarus, and sends a clear signal of support in the face of Russia's ongoing aggression in Ukraine. Latvia views the events in Ukraine as a direct threat to its national security.
