Poland banned drone flights over Warsaw on Independence Day

In connection with the need to ensure the safety of events related to the celebration of Poland's Independence Day on Monday, the Main Directorate of the Metropolitan Police in Warsaw, in agreement with the State Security Service banned drone flights over the Polish capital.

RMF24 reports about this, as “Europeyska Pravda” writes.

As reported in the Main Directorate of the Warsaw Metropolitan Police, the ban will be in effect on Monday from 6 am to midnight, with the exception of flights of state aviation, flights of aircraft in agreement with the zone administrator, and vessels belonging to the zone administrator.

“The exclusion zone covers a vertical height from ground level to 690 meters and forms a circle with a radius of 5,000 meters, the center of which is the Copernicus Science Center at 20 Wybrzeże Kościuszkowskiego Street,” – reported the Warsaw Metropolitan Police Headquarters.

The Warsaw Metropolitan Police Headquarters emphasized that violating air traffic rules threatens the drone operator with serious consequences.

“Anyone who, during a flight using an aircraft, violates air traffic rules in force in the area where the flight is taking place is subject to punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to five years,” – reminded the Metropolitan Police.

As a reminder, the Warsaw authorities allowed the organizers of the annual Independence March, dedicated to the proclamation of Polish independence on November 11 – The event was previously not registered due to irregularities in the application process.

Last year's march was attended by tens of thousands of people and was relatively peaceful. One group brought EU and LGBTQ+ flags with them, which they trampled, and one rainbow flag was burned. As a result of the march, 56 people were detained and over a thousand pyrotechnic devices were seized.
