Poland and the Czech Republic will ask private defense industry companies to join the production of ammunition

Warsaw and Prague will ask private companies of the defense-industrial complex to join the state initiative for the production of artillery ammunition, in particular 155 mm caliber.

The Ministers of Defense of the Czech Republic and Poland Jana Chernokhova and Vladyslav Kosiniak-Kamysh stated this during a joint press conference in Warsaw, Ukrinform reports with reference to PAP.

As noted by the Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Poland Kosiniak-Kamysh, Warsaw and Prague are determined to establish closer cooperation in the armed forces of both countries.

“We believe that initiatives should be implemented, in particular, regarding the joint production of ammunition,” Kosinyak-Kamysh noted.

Chernokhova recalled the Czech initiative to purchase ammunition for Ukraine, drawing attention to the fact that NATO and EU countries are also facing a shortage of ammunition in their warehouses.

«When end of the war in Ukraine, we will have to build up stockpiles of ammunition, thus creating factories for their production in our countries,” Chernokhova emphasized.

She emphasized that this the key issue is cooperation with private defense companies.

«Today we agreed with Mr. Minister that we will contact private structures that wish to participate in the production of ammunition . We turned to the leading Czech companies that could help us with 155 mm ammunition and other types (of ammunition – ed.)», the Czech minister noted.

In this context, Kosiniak-Kamys said that he asked the chairman of the supervisory board of the Polish Arms Group (PGZ) that the concern "immediately establish cooperation with Czech companies".
