Plíšková lost to world number one Šwiateková in Montreal

Montreal – Tennis player Karolína Plíšková did not reach her first win over Poland's Iga Šwiateková at the tournament in Montreal. The former world number one lost to the current leader of the ranking in the second round 6:7 and 2:6.

Thirty-one-year-old Plíšková played an even first set with the nine-year-younger favorite, in which each tennis player took the opponent's serve twice. The set was decided by a tie-break, which Šwiateková won 8:6.

The second set was already played under the direction of the four-time Grand Slam champion, who converted the first match point on Plíšková's serve when the Czech tennis player hit a forehand into the net. Currently the twenty-third player in the ranking, who scored only her second victory since April in the first round in Montreal, lost to Šwiateková for the second time this year and the third time overall.

Karolína Muchová, Markéta Vondroušová and Petra Kvitová are still playing in the second round today.
