Pentagon to deploy world's first UFO hunting system in the US

The US Department of Defense announced plans to install a unique Gremlin surveillance system for tracking of unidentified anomalous phenomena such as UFOs. This system will be the world's first permanent system of this purpose, writes Interesting Engineering.

The Pentagon added that the newest system successfully passed tests this year in March. Gremlin will be deployed at a “national security facility” for 90 days of gathering data on the activity of unidentified objects.

This system includes a network of 2D and 3D radars, as well as long-range electro-optical and infrared telescopes. 2D radars will measure range and azimuth, while 3D radars will additionally record the height of objects.

The development of the “Gremlin” is part of a broader US strategy to ensure airspace security. By the way, this is not the first UFO “hunting” system for the country. In 2021, Harvard professor Avi Loeb launched the Galileo project to constantly monitor the sky using a network of telescopes and cameras.

Pentagon Administration with Research on UFOs (AARO) reported receiving more than 750 UFO reports between May 2023 and June 2024. Of these, 485 cases occurred in the reporting period and 272 in 2021-2022.

AARO conducted an investigation and established. that at least 118 cases turned out to be ordinary objects – balloons, birds and drones. Another 174 cases are still pending.

AARO specialists have so far not found any evidence of the existence of extraterrestrial beings or technologies.
