Benji Espinoza, one of the president's lawyersPedro Castillo, announced that he will request to reschedule the summons of the National Prosecutor, Patricia Benavides, for the case of promotions in the Armed Forces, whose interrogation is scheduled for this Thursday August 4.

Speaking to journalists from the Government Palace, the president's legal defender also announced that he will present a writ of tutelage so that a judge defines where he should declare Castillo Terrones before the head of the Public Ministry.

“I am going to file a motion for protection of rights so that the judge calls a hearing, the prosecution will support its position, I will support mine, and the court will determine who is interpreting the law correctly or not,” he said. p>

“This is the first summons to the President of the Republic, it is not the second, it is not the third, it is not the last . Being the first, what we are going to do is ask for a rescheduling, a new date, a new time so that after the guardianship hearing, where the judge will define whether we are right or not, the president's statement can be taken “, he added.

In this sense, Espinoza considered that Benavides Vargas's insistence that Pedro Castillo testify in the Headquarters of the Public Ministry and not the Government Palace, it seems more like a “whim” of the Nation's prosecutor.

Thus, the lawyer indicated that while the judge finally defines who is right, a new date will finally be set. He also emphasized that the statements of those investigated in the criminal process are not means of investigation, but of defense.

Finally, the president's lawyer reiterated that the Public Ministry is showing signs that “it has lost objectivity” and that there is a “unbridled pursuit” towards Castillo Terrones.

“What I am saying is that the Public Ministry is giving a set of signs that it has lost objectivity, that it is not seeking, with the law in one hand and the Constitution in the other, a reasoned persecution within the due process, within the right to defense, but that there is a persecution runaway”, he underlined.

“When that happens, when the Constitution and the law are not obeyed, then we can say that unfortunately the Public Ministry is playing the role of political sounding board”, he sentenced.
