Pedri suffers a muscle stretch in the soleus of his right leg according to the medical report issued by Barcelona. The statement only warns that the canary is out without specifying for how long, although it is assumed that he will not be able to play next Wednesday against Sevilla in the second leg of the semifinals of the Copa del Rey at the Camp Nou. Initially, however, he does not suffer any muscle breakage, as was feared when he had to use the crutches to leave the Pizjuán. The period of absence would initially be about two weeks according to sources from the Camp Nou dressing room.
Pedri is one of Koeman's fundamental footballers. Both for the minutes he has played (2,349), the seventh of the squad – the one with the most is De Jong (3,155) and Messi (2,812) follows him -, as well as for his versatility, equally important when he has acted as a midfielder and as a forward, important in 4-3-3 and 3-5-2. The Barça team has stabilized in some way in the medullary through the Pedri-Busquets-De Jong trio.
The Canarian player was injured in an unfortunate play in the 70th minute of the match played in Seville. Pedri was trying to control a ball and suddenly ended up on the ground, sore in the lower back of his left leg and asking Koeman for the change. He had not suffered any mishap until Saturday and intervened in 37 of the 38 games played this season by Barcelona.
