Patricia Benavides Vargas swears this Friday to the position of Prosecutor of the Nation for the period 2022-2025, after being elected on June 20 by the Board of Supreme Prosecutors. The magistrate has the main challenge to continue with the investigation of President Pedro Castillo for the alleged crimes of criminal organization, influence peddling and collusion.

He is also in charge of investigating the fugitive former Minister of Transportation, Juan Silva, and other high-ranking officials.

In the center, the supreme prosecutors Zoraida Ávalos and Pablo Sánchez; and to the extremes Patricia Benavides, brand new head of the Public Ministry and the supreme prosecutor Juan Carlos Villena. These last two were elected by the National Board of Justice.

The Board of Supreme Prosecutors is chaired by Patricia Benavides and made up of Pablo Sánchez, Zoraida Ávalos, Juan Carlos Villena and Delia Espinoza, the latter was appointed this Tuesday by the National Board of Justice.

The ceremony will be held at 9:30 in the morning in the main auditorium of the Public Ministry, in the Cercado de Lima. It was reported that he will hold a press conference later.
