Over the past day, 10,888 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Russia

Over the past 24 hours, 10,888 new cases of COVID-19 infection have been identified in Russia. Such data are cited in the publication of the operational headquarters created under the government to combat the spread of the disease.

According to the headquarters, the total number of cases of coronavirus infection in Russia during the entire epidemic has exceeded 1.225 million people. It is emphasized that more than a quarter (26.3%) of new cases carry the infection without symptoms or any other clinical manifestations. Traditionally, the largest number of cases was recorded in Moscow – the capital's doctors during the reporting period revealed 3,537 new cases. Also, quite high rates of the increase in the number of cases are recorded in St. Petersburg (407 cases), Moscow region (339 cases), Rostov and Nizhny Novgorod regions – 244 and 198 cases, respectively. Doctors record the lowest rates in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug – only one case of infection has been registered here over the past day.

In addition, it is reported that over the past day, 117 patients have died, while the total number of victims of coronavirus in the country has reached 21,475 people. Finally, during the same period, 3,181 people were recognized as recovered and discharged from medical institutions; over the entire period of the pandemic, more than 982 thousand residents of Russia were successfully cured of COVID-19.
