There’s no shortage of options in the ambient noise canceling smartwatch and earphone market. Huawei is trying to stand out from the crowd with its Watch GT 2 Pro smartwatch and its tried-and-tested FreeBuds Pro headphones.
At francoischarron.com, we have the chance to try out many pairs of button earphones and smartwatches.
Of all the tech product lines we have the chance to try, these are definitely the two most popular with smartphones.
Still, we get a good idea of the strengths and weaknesses of each of the products that are sent to us. While the Watch GT 2 Pro and FreeBuds Pro aren’t perfect in every way, they have some undeniable strengths that make them attractive choices.
Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro: a great watch that meets our needs
A watch has always been used to tell the time, but it is also a fashion accessory. The Watch GT 2 Pro immediately stands out with its look which is really very beautiful and refined.
Titanium frame, sapphire dial, 3.5cm AMOLED screen, the watch is truly sublime, but offers a look that is perhaps more masculine than feminine.
The Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro smart watch offers a luxury look.
What does the watch allow us to do? Basically anything you can think of in a smartwatch. In particular, it allows us to:
- Track our heart rate
- Monitor our stress level
- Track our sleep cycles
- Monitor our blood oxygen level (SpO2)
- Show our maximum oxygen consumption (V02Max)
- Show weather and lunar cycles
- Control our music
- Take our calls
- See our notifications from our phone
The GT 2 Pro gives us all the functions we expect from a smartwatch.
A trainer for more than 100 physical activities
Obviously, the Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro is also a training and fitness accessory, while we can monitor more than a hundred physical activities ranging from running, swimming, cycling, bodybuilding to more unusual activities for a watch such than skiing, snowboarding or golf.
For each of his activities, we can set goals, whether it is time, distances to cover or calories to burn. As we do our exercises the watch verbally notifies us of our progress.
Everything is really well done and easy to configure before leaving for training.
What is more, the watch is equipped with GPS which allows us to leave our phone at home when we go for a run outside for example.
During our exercises, we can directly have a follow-up of our progressions and the level of intensity.
This is all the more true since the watch can store up to 500 songs that can be listened to by pairing Bluetooth headphones like the FreeBuds Pro.
This option is only available if the watch is paired with an Android device. We can then transfer our MP3 or AAC files through the Huawei Mate application.
The downside that we would give in terms of training is that since the watch is still big, it is more or less comfortable and fluid when doing intense training. If you’re looking for a smartwatch that’s a little smaller and lighter, then the Huawei Watch Fit may be more appropriate.
Finally in terms of battery life, the GT 2 Pro offers superb autonomy of around 8 days if you train daily and 14 days if you train little or not at all.
The Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro retails for around $ 400.

Huawei Free Buds Pro: a long-lasting sound bubble
In terms of headphones Free Buds Pro, the first thing that strikes you again is the look, while Huawei seems to be on a mission to launch beautiful products.
The FreeBuds Pro headphones offer a unique and refined look.
However, this look with rectangular rods makes touch gestures to control our music more complex.
To stop, advance or rewind a song, you have to pinch the stem. OK for now. To raise and lower the volume on the other hand, you have to slide up or down on the rod, but on the inside of the earpiece and not on the outside.
This results in a situation where we involuntarily move the earpiece in our ear, then to replace it we accidentally pause our music. In short, it takes an adaptation.
Touch gestures to control FreeBuds require adaptation.
But hey, the headphones are still comfortable and in terms of sound the Free Buds Pro are excellent earbuds. These provide a good foundation in particular.
The Free Buds Pro also offer ambient noise cancellation technology. A real bubble is created in our ears when we barely perceive ambient noise in a little or moderately noisy environment.
Finally, on the battery life side, they can be used for 8 hours before having to put them back in the charging box. As for the case, it offers 3 and a half additional recharges for a total of 36 hours of autonomy, which is really excellent.
The Huawei Free Buds Pro are sold for around $ 270.
