“It was a lot of bookings all week since the announcement started last Tuesday. So, Wednesday it started. The reservation book is full, ”explained the owner of Resto Roberto in Chicoutimi, Patricia Delisle.
At the restaurant Le Trio in Chicoutimi-Nord, the owner, Johanne Potvin, was delighted to see her regulars again after a closure that began last November. “It feels good to start over. See the world, go out a bit, see people. It was time after three months of closure. It feels good.”
The new rules provide that restaurateurs have no choice: they must verify the identity of customers. “It’s a government decree,” explained Patricia Delisle. It is a requirement that we have to keep the register. ”
“People work together,” noted Johanne Potvin. People will sign the register. People are happy. People are in a good mood to come and eat. ”
The owner of Coco Frutti in Place du Saguenay, Sophie Patry, came down from Laval to see the reopening. With this register and the identification documents, she feels that she has to play the police.
“To refuse someone, not to be able to feed them, it’s not easy,” said Mme Patry. We really have the impression of being a bit of a passport customs. “
The other challenge is to find your staff after such a long break. “Of course we had resignations along the way,” admitted Patricia Delisle. And recruiting is very difficult. We will not hide it, especially the kitchen staff. It’s been a few weeks since we had an announcement. Unfortunately, that does not show up. ”
Other restaurants preferred to give themselves another week to prepare for their return.
It is therefore an encouraging recovery for restaurateurs who are also already receiving reservations for Valentine’s Day.
