One of the key features of the Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphone will appear in the Galaxy A56

Samsung is finally ready to address one of the biggest issues with its Galaxy A5x series of smartphones — slow charging. And if everything I've heard is true, the company may finally add 45W charging to the upcoming Galaxy A56, which is set to replace the A55, which is a big step up from the current 25W. This is actually pretty cool news, and it's all backed up by a certificate from the China Quality and Certification Center. The phone is labeled SM-A5660, and it will definitely be the A56, because the previous A55 model has the number SM-A556.

What is known about the Galaxy A56

So, if this certificate is not misleading, then the Galaxy A56 will receive 45W charging with a 10V/4.5A system, which is very similar to what is currently available in Samsung's top models, like the Galaxy S24 Ultra. And this is a really powerful improvement, because 45W can charge a 5000 mAh battery in just 70 minutes. The A55, on the other hand, takes about an hour and 25 minutes to charge with 25W.

But of course, even with such improved charging, Samsung will still lag behind some competitors, such as the OnePlus 12R, which has 80W charging and charges in 30 minutes. Although there is one big advantage for Samsung – they use the USB Power Delivery standard, which is compatible with many chargers, unlike OnePlus, which uses its own protocol.

Given that Samsung usually releases new Galaxy A models in April, we can expect to see the A56 sometime in the same month in 2025. But what I'm even more interested in – is how this news will be reflected in the Galaxy S25 series. Maybe Samsung will make 45W charging standard for all its smartphones, or the S25 Ultra will get even more powerful charging? I think we'll find out more next year.
